About Us
The Oxford Spanish Play theatre group brings Spanish theatre to the city of Oxford since 2011.
The University of Oxford hadn’t seen plays staged in Spanish for many years until Alejandra Albuerne and Alfie Enoch, two theatre enthusiasts, set up the group in an attempt to promote Spanish drama and provide an opportunity for Spanish speakers to act in this language.
The 2011 play was La Dama Boba, by renowned 17th c. playwright Lope de Vega. It is one of the most famous comedies of the acclaimed Golden Age period of Spanish literature. The production was a great success and our group has since grown in size and passion. For more information on last year’s production please visit www.ladamaboba.org.
The goal of our theatre group is to keep up with the success from previous editions and make the Oxford Spanish Play a permanent feature of Oxford University's drama calendar.
